Boreas Pass Road is a historical mountain pass that follows the bed of what was the Denver South Park and Pacific Railroad. Operating from 1880 to 1937 this route was the fastest railway from Denver to Leadville. In 1937 operations ceased and the railway was abandoned for 15 years until be resurrected by the Arm Corps of Engineers as an auto road in 1952.
