The entire Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat, in Boulder County, Colorado used to be an open-pit gravel mine. Reclaimed as a wildlife habitat, it is now a 102-acre park.
The ponds, named after Walden “Wally” Toevs, the Boulder County Commissioner who spearheaded the transition, offer fishing exclusively to people 65 years and older, people with disabilities, and their youth companions who are 15 years or younger.
An ADA accessible fishing pier is available. A Colorado Fishing license is required for everyone 16 and older. The park does not sell fishing licenses.
