Chief Operating Officer (100% Remote) – Startup

Do you know someone with a disability? As the company’s second-in-command, we need an enthusiastic “doer” who will build the business, in collaboration with the CEO. As we scale, this role will evolve to build the structured business operation.

 

Who are you?

We are looking for a knowledgeable operations and finance person with a passion for advocacy, able to assess the organization, create, implement, and iterate an executable strategy, build sales funnels, build supportive partnership agreements, organize financial data, develop budgets, and participate in fundraising activities.

This role works in cooperation with a first-time “10,000 foot” strategic CEO.

 

What will you do?

• Design and implement business strategies and plans to support the organization’s long-range vision.

• Set comprehensive goals for fundraising

• Work with the CEO to secure partnerships, sponsorships, and funding for the organization

• Oversee daily operations of the company

• Examine data and create and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs)

• Manage relationships with partners and vendors

• Question and challenge the CEO (in appropriate ways) to strengthen ideas and plans.

 

What do you need?

• Comfortability working within a startup organization (Meaning: can thrive within an environment of ambiguity and failure)

• Some understanding of general business functions (HR, marketing, etc.)

• Aptitude in innovation and critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving

• Organizational and leadership proficiencies

• Must be able to communicate with others effectively

• Teamwork skills

• Time management skills

• Occasionally able to travel between multiple locations for client appointments

• Denver Metropolitan area resident, or willing to relocate as the company scales

 

What would be nice to have?

• Understand finance and sales, especially where startup fundraising is concerned

• Tourism and/or hospitality industry experience

• Knowledge/experience with the disability community and/or passion about solving the problem

• StrengthsFinder personality types: Focus, Discipline, Deliberative, Relator, Analytical, and/or Activator.

Compensation

Exclusively equity (1-3%) with a salary and profit-sharing after successful fundraising rounds. There is no monetary compensation initially in this position.

  • As our Marketing Director, you will oversee all aspects of our brand strategy, marketing, and creative. You will have the unique opportunity to build a business from the ground up. Building on our current traction, you will be responsible for substantially increasing our focus on inspiring brand storytelling and cohesive marketing campaigns. You will build and foster relationships with cross-functional partners to build Exploryst from a Minimum Viable Product to a MARKET VIABLE PRODUCT.

    What You’ll Do
     
    ·     Own our brand strategy, messaging, and storytelling; provide the foundation and guardrails for how we communicate with our customers
    ·     Develop, lead, and evolve all aspects of marketing (performance, CRM & loyalty, PR & events, and growth)
    ·     Set the bar high: deliver results and drive business growth by crafting a compelling strategic vision, building internal capabilities, and driving execution
    ·     Align creative and marketing: communicate a unified brand identity in all channels, platforms, and experiences
    ·     Continually improve and optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of marketing spend to ensure marketing activities deliver successful ROI and brand-building metrics
    ·     Partner with other members of our leadership team to track, assess, and respond to our revenue results
    ·     Understand and communicate the voice of our customer and the market through connection to trends, consumer behavior, and culture. Integrate customer insights into marketing strategy
    ·     Build our global brand through increased brand awareness and growth in the size, engagement, and lifetime value of our customer base
    ·     Lead, develop, and motivate a talented internal team of marketers and creatives; define how these global teams will work together from their now unified functional home

Responsibilities for Disability Marketing Intern
  • Asssit the development, implementation, and execution of strategic marketing plans for an entire organization to attract potential customers and retain existing ones.
  • Assist in marketing and advertising activities (e.g., social media, monthly blog articles- 300-500 words, etc.)
  • Manage and update the company database and customer relationship management systems (CRM)
  • Call tourism businesses to update information and market Exploryst
  • Monitor all social media platforms for trending news, ideas, and feedback
  • Research and evaluate competitor marketing and digital content
  • Prepare correspondence and presentations for key partner categories
  • Lead market research efforts to uncover the viability of current and existing products/services
  • Collaborate with media organizations and advertising agencies
  • Brainstorm ideas for new campaigns
  • Coordinate with the sales team and other departments to produce effective strategies
  • Monitor current campaigns, ensuring their staff meets deadlines and complete necessary tasks
  • Analyze data to evaluate the success of their marketing efforts and come up with new ideas to improve brand marketing and exposure
  • Updating senior leadership on the progress of marketing activities and reporting on the results of campaigns
